DIGU THILA

This long thilla lies in the middle of the channel, south of Guhli Island. The thilla runs east – west, rising to around 10 meters at the western end. The eastern end joins the shallow entrance to the channel. We dive the north part of the thilla with overhangs and caves between 15 and 20 meters. There is a rich display of soft coral on the reef and sea fans in the caves. Fish life on the thilla is prolific with large schools of basslet and snapper and aggregations of banner fish and sweet lips. Sharks and turtles as well as the “macro life” impress the divers. Nudibranchs, flatworms and shrimps are wonderful motives for your pictures.

The top of the thilla reef is covered with nice coral formations and blocks where you can find hiding morays and turtles. The thilla is only to be dived under special current conditions.

Dieses lange Thilla liegt südlich der Insel Ghuli, in der Mitte des Kanals. Es erstreckt sich von West nach Ost und steigt im Westen bis auf zehn Meter an. Östlich mündet es in den Eingangsbereich des Kanals.

Betaucht wird von uns die Nordseite des Thillas. In ca. 20 m Tiefe trifft man auf eine Reihe Überhänge und Höhlen. Die Höhlen überzeugen durch ein dichtes Angebot an Weichkorallen und Schwämmen. Der Fischbestand am Thilla ist reichhaltig mit grossen Schwärmen von Schnappern und Fahnenbarschen, sowie Ansammlungen von Wimpelfischen und Süsslippen. Auch Haie und Schildkröten können regelmässig beobachtet werden. Fans „des Kleinen“ kommen aber genauso auf ihre Kosten, findet man doch auch verschiedenste Arten von Nacktschnecken, Plattwürmern und Garnelen. Das Thilla-Dach bietet obendrein noch sehr schöne Korallenformationen und –blöcke, wo Muränen und Schildkröten Versteck spielen.

Das Thilla ist nur unter bestimmten Strömungsbedingungen zu betauchen.
